Indian-born Shahaan Engineer, like almost all of the 2012 TRS grid, had his motorsport start in karting, and he comes to the Series fresh from a rookie season in Formula Renault UK with the aim of honing his racecraft while his rivals wait out the northern hemisphere winter in testing.

Shahaan raced the Formula Renault “Finals Series” (formerly the Formula Renault Winter Series) for the respected Fortec team and competed at the final round against Josh Hill, Jordan King and Oliver Rowland.  He won praise from team owner Richard Dutton for completing a tough baptism into the highly competitive series without becoming embroiled in on-track incidents and aims to return for more in 2012.

Josh Hill and Jordan King also make the trip to New Zealand with Hill racing for the same team as Shahaan; King racing for M2 Competition.

Away from the track, Shahaan has interests that include jazz drumming, rock climbing and of course cars.

Currently living in Dubai, Shahaan has ambitions to reach the highest levels of motorsport.  He races in the 2012 Toyota Racing Series with ETEC Motorsport.
